I think in the light of the commercial, you should feel scared. Why is it that all old commercials are kind of errie? This little doll singing about the faast, and releiving comfort an Alka-Seltzer tab can bring is creepy. Why the chose this advertising method I do not know. I'm sure this popped up in a few kids nightmares ha ha ha. But its kind of cool. Lets look at the Alka-Sltzer tab as Holy Mother Church. Lets say that acid, heartburn, indigestion and all of those ailments are the sins and misfortunes of this world. The Church is just as fast, probably even more readily available and easier to find than Alka-Seltzer these days. Wehn we are infected with sin, we can run to the Catholic Church, she offers us a remedy, the Sacrament of Reconcilitation. We can go to confession and have our sins removed, we can have Jesus himself truly present through the priest during absolution, cure us of our sickness. When troubled by the world, and troubled by all of the sad, and unjust things in this world we can go to Mass. Jesus' Mercy and love are so readily available it is almost an overwhelming thought. When we enter into the Mass, we enter into the same sacrifice as on Calvary. We enter into this love. Have you ever seen those "Safe Place" signs on the side of fire stations, and on police buildings? Any Catholic church is that sign itself. We can go there for refuge, we can go there for saftey, comfort, and the general feeling that no matter what we do here, we are safe! The church offers so much to us to bring us closer to Christ, especially through the Sacraments. We have forgivness of sins, we have the Eucharist. Without the Eucharist could you imagine how much worse off this world would be? Without the Priests, Deacons, and Religious, us laitity would have a much harder time going through this life, or for that matter, just making it through this life. All of this, everything I just mentioned is offered to us by the Church. What an amazingly beautiful thought. After my conversion to this faith, I saw how wrong I was, I saw how lost I was, but mostly, I saw how much I honestly need Jesus. The Holy Catholic church encompasses and offers every single avenue we need to escape from this secularized world, like I said before, WE HAVE THE EUCHARIST! I like the thought of the Church being our cure-all. Turn to her. She will heal us of all of our impurities, all of our wekanesses and she will always, ALWAYS be there for us. If we, as stubbourn, self suficeint humans could just remember this, and could practice this, we could have such a more fulfilling, more meaningful, and overall more enjoyable life. Christ wants us in his Church for this reason. He wants us to have true happiness, and he wants us to find that throught him because he is the only way we can have it. So, whenever your feeling sick, turn to the Church, turn to Christ, and you will be healed.
